Job Summary
The Visiting Lecturer in the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Program is a full-time, 12-month faculty position responsible for providing high-quality instruction, academic advising, mentoring, and student support. Teaching responsibilities include classroom, laboratory, simulation, clinical, and online instruction. Additional duties include assessing student learning outcomes, participating in accreditation and program evaluation activities, engaging in university, college, and community service, and supporting student success initiatives. The faculty member will contribute to the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Georgia Southwestern State University and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences through excellence in teaching, professional practice, and service.
This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment within the ASN Program and is funded through a four-year strategic partnership between Georgia Southwestern State University and Phoebe Putney Health System. The faculty member will support the goals of this partnership through nursing workforce development, student recruitment and retention efforts, and collaborative educational initiatives designed to address regional healthcare needs. Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution required.
Current, unencumbered registered nurse licensure in the State of Georgia, or eligibility for Georgia licensure.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching in an undergraduate nursing education program.
Demonstrated record of scholarly, professional, and leadership contributions relevant to undergraduate nursing education.
Strong commitment to student success, academic excellence, and quality nursing education.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with three to five (3-5) years of teaching experience in a collegiate nursing program and a proven ability to support student learning and engagement in higher education settings. Additional preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Medical-Surgical Nursing
Maternal/Obstetric Nursing
Pediatric Nursing
Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of undergraduate nursing education principles and practices.
Knowledge of classroom, laboratory, simulation, clinical, and online teaching methodologies.
Knowledge of nursing accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and assessment processes.
Knowledge of curriculum development, student learning outcomes, and program evaluation.
Knowledge of college and university policies, procedures, and academic regulations.
Knowledge of computers and instructional technologies used in higher education.
Knowledge of current nursing practice standards and evidence-based healthcare delivery.
Skill in student advising, mentoring, and academic support.
Skill in decision making, problem solving, and critical thinking.
Skill in collecting, analyzing, and reporting assessment and accreditation data.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in establishing effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, clinical partners, and community stakeholders.

The work is performed in classrooms, simulation laboratories, skills laboratories, clinical agencies, healthcare facilities, and office environments.
