Summary:

Under the direction of the site coordinator, volunteers will assist with community events, craft days, field trips, and other programming offered at the EDC. Volunteers may also be asked to serve as museum docents, greeting visitors and offering guided tours of the EDC facility and grounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assisting staff with preparation of events and programming.

Assisting staff with implementation of craft days, field trips, community events, and other programming.

Assisting staff with behind the scenes operations of museum and classroom.

Greeting visitors and answering questions regarding the EDC and Central Park.

Docents provide guided tours of museum and grounds as requested;

Assist with light cleaning and tidying of exhibits and classroom as needed.

Perform other job-related functions as assigned by City staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Qualification Requirements:

Interest in and willingness to learn about animal ambassadors and ecological exhibits at the EDC, as well as Central Park.

Interest in and willingness to learn about Florida native plants and animals, and other ecological information offered at the EDC.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as museum docent.

Experience working with elementary age children.

Experience leading nature walks/eco tours.

Education or certifications related to Earth sciences.

Basic knowledge of central Florida ecosystems and wildlife.
