Warehouse Associate

Job Summary

• Client is looking for a Storeroom Warehouse Associate - an individual contributor within a storeroom and/or customer location, responsible for receiving, handling, stocking, storing, recording, and dispatching goods per established procedures.
• Onsite role in Decherd, TN; 40 hrs/week, Mon Sat 7:30 AM 6:00 PM (training Mon - Fri 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM for 2 - 3 weeks); temp-to-hire; 6-month engagement.
• Customer-facing position requiring strong customer service skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Completes shipments by processing and loading orders based on production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions.
• Unloads, receives, and puts away incoming goods; unpacks containers; checks for damage and discrepancies against invoices; applies strapping/bracing/padding as needed.
• Sorts, labels, moves, and stores goods per predetermined sequence (size, style, product codes); optimizes warehouse storage space.
• Weighs or counts items to ensure conformance to company standards.
• Picks, packs, and dispatches outgoing goods using pick sheets (paper or electronic); loads pallets via pallet jack or forklift; verifies product and quantity accuracy.
• Loads trucks for customer delivery, checking for damage/discrepancies; consolidates freight, verifies shipping method, and communicates oversize loads to carriers.
• Enters and retrieves data in a computerized system to maintain stock records; documents discrepancies and escalates to management as needed.
• Compiles tickets/worksheets from customer specifications.
• Operates warehouse equipment (forklifts, cherry-pickers, pallet jacks, etc.).
• Assists with inventory maintenance and counts.
• Follows warehouse safety regulations; performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

• 1+ year of relevant warehouse experience and/or training.
• Experience loading, unloading, picking, packing, or moving goods in a warehouse environment; forklift/cherry picker experience preferred.

Eligibility & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred (not required).
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work orders, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, fractions, decimals); ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent preferred.
• Ability to compile routine reports and write correspondence.
• Team-oriented, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and safety-minded.
• Steel-toe shoes with leather uppers required; dress code: solid-colored shirt with 4" sleeve, solid-colored pants or blue denim jeans, full leather shoes (no canvas/cloth).
