Wastewater Collection Apprentice Operator I

What You Will Do

As an Apprentice Operator I in the Bureau of Utilities you will assist in the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection systems and facilities. Working under the direction of a supervisor you will perform inspections and provide general maintenance. The work you do will support safe and efficient operations in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Essential Duties

&bullOperate and monitor wastewater collection systems and facilities to ensure public safety and efficient performance.

&bullPerform inspections and provide general maintenance of wastewater collection systems and facilities. Evaluate inconsistencies and report problems to supervisor.

&bullOperate specialized equipment as required.

&bullMaintain facilities equipment and tools.

&bullCompile data and complete routine paperwork including logs and reports.

&bullFollow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean orderly and safe work environment.

&bullComplete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback.

&bullDemonstrate an ability to collaborate and a willingness to learn. Participate in a supportive work environment.

&bullExhibit integrity ethics and fiscal responsibility.

Required Licenses and Certifications

&bullMust apply for a Maryland Temporary Class 2 Wastewater Collection license within 30 days of employment

&bullDepartment of Transportation DOT physical card

&bullState of Maryland Flagging Certification or must obtain within 90 days of employment

&bullBloodborne Pathogen training or must obtain within 60 days of employment

Preferred Licenses and Certifications

&bullClass A commercial drivers license CDL

Additional Information

&bullRequires criminal background check as condition of employment

&bullSubject to on-call responsibilities as needed which may include overnight hours weekends and holidays.

&bullMay be required to work outside of standard hours.

&bullMay be identified as Essential Personnel during emergency situations.

Working Conditions

&bullFrequent exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions including but not limited to chemicals noise and airborne particles.
