Job Title: Wastewater Treatment Plant Field Operator
Location: Rochester, NY
Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $21.00 - $25.00
Work Model: Onsite
Hours: Rotating shift schedule (12-hour shifts)
Responsibilities
- Conduct sampling and testing of wastewater and document results.
- Perform routine equipment/system checks to ensure proper operation of pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment, and other treatment equipment.
- Record operational data and maintain accurate logs.
- Monitor, check, and adjust controls and equipment as needed; assist with troubleshooting and repairs.
- Perform routine laboratory analysis and interpret results using mathematical calculations.
- Oversee chemical deliveries/off-loading and support chemical inventory tracking.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in clean, safe, and operable condition.
- Assist with development and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Follow all safety, environmental, and work instruction requirements; perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements - High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule (12-hour shifts).
- Valid driver’s license and required insurance.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Basic math skills and ability to perform calculations for lab/operational data.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Team-oriented and able to follow procedures and safety/environmental rules.
- Wastewater treatment systems operator certification (preferred).
- Prior experience in wastewater treatment operations (preferred).
- Knowledge of wastewater regulatory programs.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and systems.
- General understanding of plant equipment and functionality.
