Summary of Position:
This position is a home office or field position that assists with the management, coordination, and hands-on construction of one or multiple projects in the water and wastewater treatment industry. Project Engineers work directly for the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, or Estimators. This may require hands-on training and working with your tools. Previous Water and Wastewater construction experience is preferred. They thrive on planning projects and working with project teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Update project schedules as required.
- Assist the Project Manager with purchase orders, submittal reviews and preparation.
- Maintain job files, submittal logs, request for information, change and field orders.
- Verify field measurements for material fabrication and expedite deliveries.
- Spare parts transfer.
- Attend meetings with subcontractors, engineers and owners.
- Remain current on safety standards and provide knowledge & feedback.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
- Assist in estimating responsibilities.
- Maintain daily jobsite and production logs, daily/weekly records of deliveries, stored materials, equipment hours, and other logs.
- Maintain as-built drawings and specifications.
- Act as intermediary between field workers and Superintendent.
- Take part in construction activities as frequently as possible while maintaining other listed responsibilities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Educational background - preferably a Bachelor's degree, at a minimum, in the fields of civil engineering, environmental engineering and/or construction management (Field working experience may be considered without a degree).
- Prior internship or Co-op experience is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, workflow and handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
- Frequent travel by car; Proof of insurance and a clean DMV record may be required.
- Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud.
- May be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment when in the field.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; sit; talk and hear. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to safely work with sharp tools and/or power equipment.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
- Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
