Washington Trust is seeking a motivated, client-focused Financial Planner to join our Wealth Management team. In this role, you will support the development and delivery of comprehensive financial plans for high-net-worth clients while partnering closely with experienced advisors, senior planners, and internal subject matter experts.
This position is based in Providence, RI, with hybrid flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
Support the development and delivery of comprehensive financial plans using planning tools such as MoneyGuide Elite, Holistiplan, Luminary, Income Lab, and Microsoft Excel.Participate in client conversations to help gather financial data, understand client goals, and prepare personalized planning strategies.Review and summarize trust, estate, and other planning-related documents, with guidance from senior team members and external professionals as appropriate.Assist with tax planning analysis, including reviewing client tax information, modeling planning scenarios, and helping prepare recommendations for discussion with clients and their tax advisors.Support goals-based planning conversations by helping clients evaluate short- and long-term decisions through an educational and consultative approach.Collaborate with clients, advisors, attorneys, tax preparers, and internal partners to help implement financial planning recommendations.Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships through proactive planning support and thoughtful follow-up with the advisory team.Grow as a financial planning resource within the team by participating in client meetings, planning discussions, and internal strategy sessions.Contribute to planning-related training materials, client education pieces, and other resources that support Washington Trust's planning process.Ensure compliance with internal policies, risk controls, and regulatory standards.Deliver an exceptional client experience with every interaction.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.CFP certification preferred; candidates actively pursuing CFP certification will also be considered. Ideal candidates will have 3-7 years of financial planning, wealth management, investment advisory, or related experience.Exposure to trust, estate, tax, retirement, and investment planning concepts preferred, with a strong interest in continuing to develop technical planning expertise.Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain planning concepts clearly and professionally to clients and internal partners.Experience with financial planning software preferred; experience with Luminary, MoneyGuide, Holistiplan, or similar platforms is a plus.Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office suite.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.A growth mindset, strong intellectual curiosity, and interest in advancing within a high-quality wealth planning environment.
CompensationThe good-faith, reasonable base salary range for this role is $110,000-$135,000. Actual compensation will be based on relevant experience, skills, training, certifications, and education. This role may be eligible for an annual bonus and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
