A leader in thermal processing and environmental testing solutions is hiring a second-shift Welder to build metal frames and sheet-metal components used in industrial ovens, furnaces, and environmental test chambers. The organization serves defense, aerospace, electronics, biotech, medical, pharmaceutical, energy, transportation, and other advanced manufacturing sectors.
This is a 2nd shift opportunity Monday through Friday from 2:30PM to 11:00PM, including a $1.00/hr shift differential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum for frames, panels, and assemblies.
- Set up welding equipment, select electrodes/wire, and adjust amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse per specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics; assemble workpieces in jigs/fixtures and tack as required.
- Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions to specified bead size and penetration.
- Inspect welds; chip, grind, and clean to meet quality standards.
- Prep parts by cleaning/degreasing; repair cracks, fill holes, and scarf or groove as needed.
- Preheat with torch/furnace when required; apply filler rod manually.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean workstation.
Key Requirements:
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and weld symbols.
- Proficiency with tape measure and square; measure accurately to 1/32" and convert between fractions/decimals.
- Working knowledge of distinguishing metals (stainless, carbon steel, aluminum).
- Basic computer skills to access job folders and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills to handle routine variables and follow written, verbal, and diagrammed instructions.
Qualifications:
- Two-year welding certificate from an accredited school; or 6-12 months related welding experience/training; or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Welding certificate preferred (not required).
