Job Description

Welder

Performs a variety of electric arc, inert gas and heliarc welding in flat, horizontal and vertical and overhead positions on structural apparatus or metal precuts including pre-heated, stress-relieved work requiring root penetration which may be subject to Magnaflux, x-ray or pressure-tight welding test

Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process, including weld requirement symbology

Perform specialized complex, TIG welds (hand)

Perform structural welds

Maintain regular checks on welding equipment ensuring that machines are operating properly

Work towards Dakota welder certification training

Plan work and selects proper tools working within precise limits or standards of accuracy

Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings

Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects

Work with all materials including stainless steel, carbon, and aluminum

Set up and calibrate power supply with the correct welding program

Weld together metal components of products such as piping systems, pipe and tube or structural shapes, using arc and arc gas welding equipment

Understand weld logs

Perform complex welding re-work

Manipulate parts to match print and dimensional specifications

Complete parts to acceptable standards ensuring customer satisfaction

Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations

Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques

Work with fixturing, Acorn Table, and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)

Work with conventional and precision measuring instruments

May conduct process and peer inspection

May perform limited E/M assembly

Expert knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various stainless steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials
