The construction pipe welder specializes in stainless steel and duplex piping networks. The welder is responsible for fabricating, fitting, and welding high-pressure piping systems across industrial construction job sites.
Position will start as a shop fabrication position at Company’s facility in Houston, TX for 2 months. Position will then transition to the field in Lebanon, Indiana for field weld installations.
Responsibilities

- Utilizes GTAW (TIG) for root and hot passes, with occasional SMAW (Stick) or FCAW for fill and cap passes depending on the Weld Procedure Specification (WPS).
- Sets up and monitors advanced inert gas backing purges (Argon). Utilizes oxygen analyzers to ensure O2 levels drop below strict client and code requirements (often <25-50 ppm) before initiating the weld.
- Reads and interprets isometric blueprints, structural drawings, and P&IDs.
- Cuts, bevels, aligns, and tack-welds pipe joints to perfect tolerances.
- Monitors and manages strictly regulated interpass temperatures and heat input parameters specific to duplex steel to prevent phase imbalances.

- Proven track record of handling alloy-specific challenges including walking the cup, managing solidification rates, and treating oxide heat tints.
- Possesses deep expertise in GTAW (TIG) processes, precise purging techniques, and metallurgy controls to prevent defects and maintain material integrity in highly corrosive environments.
Education/Training
- A current relevant quality certification (ISO 9001/ASQ Auditor Certificate or equivalent) preferred.
- Must have a comprehensive working knowledge of all ACI, ASME, and API standards and procedures related to the midstream oil and gas industry.
- CWI, NACE, API, or equivalent industry certification preferred.
Physical Qualifications
