Job Summary The Welding Lead provides leadership and hands-on technical support to the welding team within the Data Center Cooling (DCC) division. This position is responsible for coordinating production activities, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, and is an active working lead position. The Welding Lead performs welding duties while providing guidance, training, and oversight to direct reports on shift. Primary Job Duties - Lead the shift cell (Fab Help, Fitters, Orbital Welders, or Manual Welders) providing daily direction, prioritization, and technical support to a team of welders.
- Assign work orders, monitor progress, and ensure completion according to production schedules and customer specifications.
- Conduct shift start-up meetings to review priorities, safety topics, and quality expectations.
- Serve as the first point of contact for troubleshooting welding issues and department productivity or quality concerns with escalation to the department leader.
- Train and mentor team members in welding techniques, practices, and company standards.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work culture that emphasizes quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Perform hands-on welding, including layout, measuring, TIG welding, and assembly of stainless-steel components.
- Be able to perform TIG welding on stainless steel tubing components of varying thicknesses, primarily 0.065” to 0.109”.
- Identify various diameter tubing and fittings per print specifications.
- Be able to set up, operate, and maintain TIG welding equipment safely and efficiently.
- Verify dimensions using calipers, height gauges, and other measuring tools.
- Inspect welds and assemblies to ensure conformance with internal and customer standards.
- Ensure direct report welds are clean, strong, and visually inspected to maintain a high standard of craftsmanship.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality across operations.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues and optimize workflow.
- Uphold all safety policies and procedures, ensuring the team follows best practices and uses proper PPE. Leading by example and communicating to ensure compliance.
- Conduct routine quality checks and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Promote a “zero defects” mindset and encourage ownership of quality among all team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications - Minimum 5 years of TIG welding experience, preferably in stainless steel fabrication.
- Proven leadership or lead-hand experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of fabrication and welding principles, tools, and techniques.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for leading and training others.
- Basic computer skills for work order tracking and reporting.

Salary Range: $29-$32/hr
