Overview

Wellness Instructors teach classes for the Employee Wellness program. These may include a variety of topics, such as fitness classes, mindfulness, yoga, self-defense, healthy meal planning, and all sorts of other wellness-related topics. Instructors create engaging learning experiences for to promote health and wellness for EvCC employees.

This is an open pool posting for applicants interested in teaching employee wellness classes. As openings occur applicants will be contacted.

TITLE: Wellness Instructor

SALARY: $50.00 per one-hour class session

WORKLOAD: Varies - typically one or two one-hour sessions per week during assigned quarters

SCHEDULE: Days and times vary by quarterly assignment

DIVISION: Human Resources & Compliance

REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources, Organizational Development

Duties & Responsibilities

Wellness Class Instruction

  • Teach assigned employee wellness classes in topics within the instructors qualifications and professional scope.
  • Prepare and deliver safe, engaging learning activities for adults with varied experience levels and abilities.
  • Explain or demonstrate wellness concepts using current, evidence-informed practices appropriate to the assigned subject.
  • Communicate participation and safety expectations, monitor class activities, and provide appropriate modifications within the instructors scope of practice.

Class Preparation and Administration

  • Prepare the course outline, learning activities, and materials needed for each quarterly assignment.
  • Maintain credentials required for the assigned topic and follow College safety and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain attendance and other required records and submit documentation by established deadlines.
  • Complete required training and respond to College communications related to the assignment.

General Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Employee Wellness program and College needs.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience (or equivalent combination of):

  • Training, certification, or demonstrated expertise in the assigned wellness subject.
  • One (1) year of experience teaching, coaching, or facilitating group wellness activities for adults.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safe, current, and evidence-informed practices in the assigned wellness subject.
  • Understanding of how to adapt instruction for varied abilities and experience levels.
  • Skilled in explaining and demonstrating wellness concepts and techniques.
  • Skilled in facilitating groups and maintaining a supportive, respectful learning environment.
  • Ability to identify and respond to participant safety concerns and follow established emergency procedures.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and make appropriate referrals outside the instructors scope of practice.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching adults in community, college, workplace wellness, or continuing education settings.

Terms of Employment

  • Assignments are made one quarter at a time. The number and type of assignments may change, and continued assignments are not guaranteed.
  • FLSA overtime exempt
  • Position is subject to Everett Community College policies and procedures.
  • Represented by American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the AFT Collective Bargaining Agreement.
