Description

Boulder County Community Planning and Permitting Department is seeking to hire a Wildfire Partners Program Specialist II. Boulder County is seeking candidates to hire a Program Specialist II. In this position we are looking for candidates that are passionate about wildfire mitigation, community engagement, climate adaptation and/or providing the best in customer services. Wildfire Partners, the county's mitigation program, is a nationally recognized, public-private partnership to help residents prepare for wildfire. The program specialist is a primary point of contact for over 4,000 participating homeowners and plays a highly visible role throughout the county in our efforts to help create fire adapted communities.

The Program Specialist II for Wildfire Partners is the journey level classification in the Program Specialist series. The Program Specialist II performs a variety of complex Wildfire Partners professional duties requiring independent judgment and thorough knowledge of the program. The primary duty of this position includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. This position will work a hybrid schedule working both remotely at 2045 13th St, Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $63,828.00 - $77,886.00 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline:

  • Phone Screening: Week of September 28th
  • First Round Interviews: Week of October 5th
  • Second Round Interviews: Week of October 12th
  • Reference Check: Week of October 12th

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

Examples of Duties

  • Answer the Wildfire Partners designated phone line and respond to inquiries to the general email account, answering questions about program offerings, process, and requirements

  • Review home assessment applications and enroll accounts

  • Schedule home assessments, inspections, site visits, tours and other appointments

  • Generate home assessment and inspection reports and issue Wildfire Partners certificates

  • Provide project management support for updates to the home assessment, financial assistance, and new future programs

  • Help support recruitment, marketing, education and communications efforts including direct mail, and email marketing efforts

  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for program equipment, software, and apps as needed

  • Attend community meetings and other Wildfire Partners events

  • Perform program administrative duties such as producing reports, collecting fees and receipts, ordering supplies, and performing "office" functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Wildfire Partners program

  • Perform related duties as required and as department or division needs evolve

  • Performs related work, as required

  • May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of:

  • 6 years of combined education and experience which can include degrees in natural resource management, communications, or related fields, and/or experience in related programs

Additional related education may count towards required experience.
