Wood Structural Engineer (Part Time, Utah)

Are you a Structural Engineer with experience in wood design looking to apply your expertise to residential projects in the United States? One of our Utah-based clients is looking for a Wood Structural Engineer to join their team part-time, supporting single-family residential developments.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop structural designs for residential projects focused on wood framing systems.

  • Perform structural analysis and design in accordance with U.S. codes and standards.

  • Create and update structural models and drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Design wood structural elements following NDS and SDPWS requirements.

  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to ensure coordinated project delivery.

  • Review project documentation and ensure alignment with client standards and expectations.

  • Prepare and organize structural calculations and engineering deliverables.

  • Use RISA and related tools to support structural analysis and design workflows.

  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery across assigned tasks.

  • Communicate progress effectively and manage priorities within a part-time schedule.


What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

  • Advanced English level.

  • +4 years of experience in structural engineering design.

  • Proven experience working on single-family residential projects.

  • Strong knowledge of wood design per NDS and SDPWS.

  • Familiarity with U.S. building codes such as IBC, IRC, and ASCE/SEI 7.

  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and RISA.

  • Solid understanding of structural fundamentals, including statics and mechanics of materials.

  • Experience working with U.S.-based clients or projects.

  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality work.

A great plus:

  • Experience with RISA 3D, RISA Floor, RISA Foundation, Enercalc, or similar tools.

  • Strong familiarity with U.S. residential wood construction practices.

  • Experience producing detailed calculation packages and structural documentation.

  • Ability to quickly adapt to established workflows and client standards.
