Woodshop Production Associate

KSI Professional | A Monkey in the Metal Company

Location: Baltimore, MD

Schedule: Part-Time Preferred (20-25 Hours/Week) | Full-Time Considered

Pay: $20-$25/hour DOE + Performance-Based Bonuses

Build Quality Products. Work With Your Hands. Enjoy a Flexible Schedule.

Are you comfortable working with woodworking tools, assembling cabinets, or building things with your hands?

KSI Professional, part of the Monkey in the Metal family, is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Woodshop Production Associate to help manufacture our professional loudspeaker products in Baltimore.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with woodworking, cabinet assembly, furniture production, or general woodshop experience who enjoys independent, hands-on work.

We're especially interested in someone looking for a consistent part-time schedule of approximately 20-25 hours per week, although we may consider full-time employment for the right fit.

You don't need to be an audio expert. We're looking for someone who knows their way around a workshop, enjoys building things, and takes pride in doing quality work.

About Us

KSI Professional has been designing and manufacturing high-quality loudspeakers and audiovisual presentation furniture in Baltimore for decades.

As part of Monkey in the Metal, a custom fabrication company specializing in architectural woodwork, metalwork, furniture, and fixtures, we combine craftsmanship with practical manufacturing processes to create products built to last.

Our work is hands-on, detail-oriented, and focused on doing things right.

What You'll Do

You'll help manage the production of our speaker cabinets and finished products, working through the building process from raw materials to final assembly.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Woodworking & CNC Operation: Load materials and operate CNC routers using existing, pre-programmed cutting files.
  • Cabinet Assembly: Build wooden speaker enclosures using hand tools, power tools, adhesives, fasteners, and assembly jigs.
  • Sanding & Finishing: Prepare surfaces, sand, fill, and spray-paint cabinets to achieve consistent, professional results.
  • Component Installation: Install speaker components, hardware, and grilles, including basic wiring connections.
  • Quality Control: Check dimensions, finishes, fit, and functionality to ensure every product meets our standards.
  • Packaging & Organization: Package completed products, monitor materials, and maintain a clean, safe, organized workspace.
  • Additional Shop Support: Occasionally assist with other woodworking and fabrication projects as production schedules allow.

You'll be working with established designs and repeatable production processes rather than creating new designs from scratch.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is reliable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working with their hands.

What matters most:

  • Practical familiarity with woodworking tools, shop equipment, or hands-on assembly work.
  • Ability to measure accurately, follow instructions, and work from simple drawings or build sheets.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing consistent, high-quality work.
  • Comfort with repetitive tasks and working independently.
  • Dependability, good organizational habits, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Experience we'd love to see:

  • Woodshop, cabinetmaking, millwork, or furniture production experience.
  • Sanding, painting, or spray-finishing experience (strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with CNC routers or similar woodworking machinery.
  • Basic electrical assembly, soldering, or wiring experience.

Not experienced in every area? We still encourage you to apply if you have a solid woodworking foundation and are comfortable learning additional production tasks.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

A flexible schedule: We're primarily looking for someone interested in approximately 20-25 hours per week. Shorter, consistent shifts may be possible depending on availability and production needs.

Independent, hands-on work: Spend your time building real products rather than sitting behind a desk.

A straightforward production process: Work with established designs, existing CNC programs, and repeatable assembly methods.

Pride in the finished product: You'll contribute to complete products, from the first cut through final inspection and packaging.

A small, craftsmanship-focused team: Join a company that values quality, practical skills, and reliable work.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $20-$25 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Performance-based bonuses.
  • Flexible scheduling.
  • Part-time preferred, with full-time possibilities for the right candidate.
  • Full-time benefits include a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and paid holidays, including a week-long closure between Christmas and New Year's.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfort working around woodworking machinery, dust, and paint materials while using appropriate protective equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Qualified candidates will be invited to a brief shop interview and practical hands-on build assessment.

KSI Professional and Monkey in the Metal are equal opportunity employers. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to legally protected characteristics.
