Title Work Study Comment Newspaper Delivery Assistant Position Description

The Comment is the oldest and longest running student organization at Bridgewater State University. The Newspaper Delivery Assistant position works for The Comment to deliver the newspaper throughout campus and track important data to help improve access to the student newspaper.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Newpaper Delivery Assistants are supervised by the Editor in Chief of The Comment and the Associate Director in the Center for Student Engagement or designee.

CORE DUTIES

• Deliver copies of The Comment to designated drop off locations throughout the campus, including but not limited to residence halls, academic buildings, and multi-purpose buildings.
• Check on the newsstands weekly and ensure they are in good condition; report any damaged or missing newsstands to the Editor in Chief.
• Track pick up rates at all locations through the week following delivery.
• Retrieve any copies of the newspaper that are not picked up and return to The Comment office.
• Other projects may be assigned in correlation to newspaper delivery.

Eligibility requirements:

• Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
• Must have Work Study award in your financial aid package
• Must be available on Thursday after 12pm for delivery.

• The successful candidate will be a mature, responsible, independent thinker, who demonstrates adaptability and good problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact well with the diverse segments of the Bridgewater State University community.
• Commitment to the mission of The Comment and the free press.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and pull a wagon (or similar) filled with newspapers across the BSU campus.
