Workers' Compensation Attorney - Remote in California

Defense | Remote (California) | Full‑Time | Exempt | $120,000–$220,000 + Bonuses | On‑site option available in Agoura Hills, CA 


A respected California workers' compensation defense firm is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join its statewide practice. This role offers full remote flexibility anywhere in California, with optional on‑site work available in Agoura Hills.

You will manage meaningful defense litigation, represent employers and carriers before the WCAB, and receive strong mentorship, modern technology, and the resources needed to build a long‑term career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent employers, carriers, and TPAs in workers' compensation defense matters
  • Manage cases through all phases of litigation
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, briefs, and settlement agreements
  • Conduct depositions and witness examinations
  • Appear before the WCAB
  • Negotiate settlements and minimize litigation risk
  • Analyze medical records, employment records, and expert reports
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients
  • Maintain organized case files using modern legal technology
  • Build strong client relationships through proactive communication
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and litigation support staff


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar membership
  • Minimum 2 years of workers' compensation defense experience
  • Strong knowledge of California WC law and WCAB procedures
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Experience with hearings, depositions, and settlement negotiations
  • Outstanding communication and client‑relationship skills
  • Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
  • Comfortable with legal technology and case‑management systems

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of WC defense experience
  • Experience representing carriers or self‑insured employers
  • Trial or evidentiary hearing experience
  • Experience mentoring junior attorneys
  • Bilingual skills
