The X-Ray Technologist Basic Machine Operator (BMO) provides high-quality diagnostic radiographic imaging in an outpatient orthopedic, primary care sports medicine, and chiropractic clinic setting. Performs basic radiologic procedures such as x-rays under the supervision of a Radiologist, Facility Manager, or Supervisor. Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and radiographic positioning techniques.
Knowledge of equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
Knowledge of customer service concepts and clinic policies including safety, privacy and HIPAA regulations.
Understanding of x-ray protocols, diagnostic imaging principles, radiation protection, and equipment safety hazards common to radiology.
Ability to apply anatomical knowledge to positioning, technical procedures, and age-appropriate patient care, while adhering to HIPAA, privacy, and clinic safety policies.
Competence in positioning patients, operating radiology equipment, adjusting exposure factors, and producing diagnostically acceptable images.
Ability to navigate PACS, update exam titles or billing codes, and process patient and exam information within clinical computer systems.
Clear and compassionate communication with patients, families, physicians, and staff, including the ability to explain procedures and reduce patient anxiety.
Ability to manage workload, complete tasks on time, follow instructions, and maintain cooperative working relationships in a clinical setting.
