YOUTH SERVICES LIBRARIAN

Job Description

The Youth Services Librarian manages the functions and operations of the Children"s and Young Adult Department providing reference and readers advisory developing and maintaining collections providing virtual and face-to-face library programs for children and young adults assists with community-wide programs public relations and outreach. Work includes identifying new services for children and young adults and implementing them in a fiscally sound manner. The Youth Services Librarian is a member of the OFPL supervisory team and will work in both library locations. The Youth Services Librarian contributes to the evaluation of library clerks. This position works collaboratively with the entire library team and other City departments. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Library Director and Deputy Director with considerable freedom to assist neighbors in the assigned area. Work requires extensive contact with library staff library neighbors community groups and professional organizations. Required to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and weekends in support of public service hours.

STARTING HOURLY PAY: $24.34 p/h MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: ALA accredited Master's Degree in Library and Information (MLIS) Two (2) years professional experience developing and managing programs and services for children and young adults. One (1) year of experience in collection development Valid Driver's License Must meet City"s insurability requirements. Other Conditions: Must pass a background check PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Supervisory experience Experience with audio-editing Experience with video-editing Experience with marketing public relations and social media to promote library programming Experience in STEAM programming Experience working in a Maker's Space Experience coordinating and/or working with teen volunteers
