A deterioration in the financial condition of a self-insured employer, an inadequately funded claims program, insufficient collateral, or a failure of an employer, surety, financial institution, excess insurance carrier, or third-party administrator may expose injured workers and the State’s workers’ compensation system to substantial financial and operational risk. The position is responsible for directing the daily operations of the Division; supervising, developing, and evaluating all Division staff assigned to self-insurance, employer compliance, insurance reporting, and related regulatory programs; and ensuring that the Division’s work is completed accurately, consistently, and within established legal, regulatory, and operational deadlines.
