Qualifications Qualifications for Physical Therapist Assistant: • Completion of an accredited Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or similar degree program for Physical Therapist Assistants • State licensure or certification is required in all states to practice • Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred) • Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, compassion, and attentiveness are necessary for interacting with staff, patients, and other healthcare professionals • Knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening. Responsibilities may include but not be limited to: • Providing hands-on care, such as therapeutic exercises, massage, stretching, and gait training, while documenting patient progress and adjusting treatments • Implement tailored treatment plans, including therapeutic exercises, functional training, and physical agents like heat/cold/electrical stimulation • Observe patients before, during, and after sessions, recording progress and reporting status updates to the supervising physical therapist • Educate patients and their families on exercises, home programs, and proper body mechanics • Assist patients with transferring, walking, or using equipment like walkers and crutches • Maintain clean, safe treatment areas and document patient records.
