We are seeking a Construction Payroll & Accounting Specialist to support payroll operations, accounting processes, and compliance reporting in a dynamic service and construction environment.This opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys balancing payroll administration with broader accounting responsibilities. You will own weekly payroll processing and support general accounting activities while helping ensure compliance with certified payroll, labor requirements, reporting standards, and internal financial controls. Success in this role requires accuracy, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.Key Responsibilities • Process weekly payroll including time review, reconciliation, PTO tracking, and payroll accuracy controls • Prepare certified payroll, prevailing wage documentation, union reporting, and fringe benefit administration • Support payroll accounting activities including journal entries, labor allocations, reconciliations, and reporting • Assist with month-end close, audit preparation, and financial reporting activities • Maintain payroll and accounting records while ensuring compliance with labor and reporting requirements • Coordinate payroll-related administration including garnishments, unemployment claims, benefits changes, and employee updates • Track and maintain company licenses, insurance documentation, certifications, and compliance records • Partner with accounting leadership to improve processes and maintain accurate financial dataWhat You Bring • 3+ years of experience in payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, staff accounting, or financial administration • Experience in construction payroll, certified payroll, prevailing wage, union payroll, or compliance reporting strongly preferred • Understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping • Experience with accounting software; QuickBooks experience preferred • Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize and analyze payroll and financial data • Familiarity with general ledger processes and financial reporting • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience preferredIf you are looking for a stable accounting opportunity where your work directly impacts company performance and long-term success, we encourage you to apply.Apply today. Respond to findings and strive to improve inspection results.</li><li>Empower supervisors and other direct reports to maintain EHS (environmental, health, and safety) compliance by establishing expectations, and holding teams accountable for adherence to EHS policies, procedures, and best practices; evaluating employee performance via field and document audits; reporting and correcting unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and participating in the continuous improvement in EHS performance through management systems.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Education & Experience:<ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or related engineering field preferred.</li><li>Minimum 10 years mine operations management experience and capital project management.</li><li>MSHA certification preferred.</li><li>Valid driver's license.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:<ul><li>Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), Budgeting (Adaptive), Invoicing/Accounts Payable (DataServ) HR Systems (UKG), Drafting (AutoCAD), I-Series (LIMS, ETMS), Tableau, and PeopleSoft.</li><li>Extensive knowledge of and proven ability to adhere to MSHA mine safety regulations.</li><li>Proven ability to employ mining best practices and adherence to safe practices and regulations.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively.</li></ul>Work Environment & Physical Requirements:<ul><li>Regularly uses a computer/tablet, phone/radio, and drive a personnel carrier. Rarely required to use powered or non-powered hand tools and loading/hauling equipment. Requires concentrated attention.</li><li>Frequently required to work underground, work in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, exposed to vibration, wet, humid (non-weather) conditions. Rarely work in confined spaces and wear a respirator, work at heights of 4' for more with fall protection. May be exposed to loud noise levels.</li><li>Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, drive, and use repetitive motion with wrist, hand, and/or fingers. Occasionally required to sit for extended periods of time, rarely required to reach with hands/arms, feel attributes of objects, grasp, push, climb or balance, stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl. Requires clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, and three-dimensional vision, ability to identify and distinguish colors.</li><li>Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
