This role supports the General Manager by coordinating office operations, accounting activities, customer and supplier communication, fleet administration, and HR-related tasks.</p><p style="line-height:normal;background:white;vertical-align:baseline">The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position is onsite in Columbus, GA with minimal local travel required.</p><p style="line-height:normal;background:white;vertical-align:baseline"><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul style="list-style-type:square"><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Oversees general office administration and provides support in a variety of areas and functions.</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Maintains and assists with input information and ensures accuracy with supplier and customer shipments throughout each stage of the process.</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Generates supplier/customer invoices, processes payments and follows up with collections. May handle accounts payable and customer invoicing.</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Responsible for a variety of HR duties such as new staff orientation and onboarding. Trains new office staff and provides support to less experienced office staff members. May track vacations, timesheets, and payroll.</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Coordinates all general administrative activities as necessary (e.g. scale operation, answering phones, etc.).</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Assists General Manager, Account Representatives and other staff with supplier/customer information, subcontractors, safety and vendor information, miscellaneous paperwork and financial reporting.</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Performs other office administrative duties, including but not limited to: ordering office supplies and other supplies/services. Handles site maintenance issues (e.g. pest control, etc.) and office equipment.</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Acts as back-up for other office jobs such as the scale operation.</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Assist with fleet operations such as dispatching drivers, including DOT information input and maintaining fuel cards. Ensure accurate driver information and recordkeeping.</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">May supervise, train and provide support for other office staff.</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.</li><li style="background:white;vertical-align:baseline">Must be involved in the company safety program and overall safety culture.</li></ul><p style="line-height:normal;background:white;vertical-align:baseline"><strong>Competencies</strong></p><ul style="list-style-type:square"><li>Ability to work in a complex and constantly changing environment</li><li>Knowledge of grades, pricing and logistics in the recycling industry including paper, plastics, and metals.</li><li>Exceptional communication and organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to work aggressively and competitively in the marketplace while still working as a valuable part of a regional and national team.</li></ul><p style="line-height:normal;background:white;vertical-align:baseline"><strong>Education / Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Associate's degree preferred.</li><li>Minimum of 5 years of office management or related experience.</li><li>Two years of accounting, bookkeeping, and/or financial experience preferred.</li></ul><h1>Physical Demands</h1><p style="line-height:normal;background:white;vertical-align:baseline">This role frequently requires sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands to handle materials or controls. Regular activities include walking, standing, and occasional stooping or reaching.
