The Farm Equipment Mechanic II will be responsible for repairing and maintaining our equipment fleet, including but not limited to tractors and other farming equipment. Typical work hours are Monday - Friday 7 am to 4 pm with some opportunities to work additional hours/weekends. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position including 401K, vacation, sick, holiday pay, health and welfare benefits and so much more.    Duda Ranches a division of A Duda & Sons, Inc., a diversified land management company is currently seeking an experienced Mechanic for its Sod/Cattle Farm located at our Viera/Melbourne location. Starting out as a humble celery farm in 1926, DUDA’s business operations today include Duda Farm Fresh Foods, one of the world’s leading producers and suppliers of celery and other quality fresh and fresh-cut vegetables and citrus; The Viera Company, a highly regarded community developer with fully-integrated real estate operations including Viera Builders, a residential home builder; as well as Duda Ranches, manager of DUDA’s agricultural operations including sod, sugarcane, citrus and cattle.   Ideal candidates will have the following knowledge/qualities. <ul style="margin-bottom:11px"><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Diesel and hydraulics knowledge</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Electrical knowledge</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Small engine knowledge</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Welding and Fabrications experience</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Perform the same tasks as Mechanic I, along with tasks that require more skill, such as electrical repairs, diagnosing motor issues, diagnosing wiring issues.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Ability to respond to field to diagnose equipment when needed</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Complete work orders daily.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Valid driver’s license and some local travel will be required</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Location: No travel required, all work will be performed at the Cocoa Ranch Shop and at the field when necessary.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Must have their own tools.</li></ul>Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of farm equipment experience preferred. This job requires the applicant to pass a physical, drug test, and a background check and the applicant must be able to work in the USA without sponsorship. The Farm Equipment Mechanic Helper will be responsible for assisting the mechanics and equipment operators in maintaining and repairing machinery used for sod production. Working closely with the team to ensure that equipment runs smoothly, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.  Typical work hours are Monday - Friday 7 am to 4 pm with some opportunities to work additional hours/weekends. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position including a compensation package prepared to meet your needs.  Paid time off, medical, dental, and vision benefits, retirement, short- and long-term disability and life insurance.    Job Responsibilities:  <ul style="margin-bottom:11px"><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Equipment Maintenance: Assist mechanics in performing routine maintenance tasks on tractors, movers, harvesters, and other sod-related machinery. Clean & lubricate equipment components. Inspect belts, hoses, filters, and other parts for wear & tear. Help with minor repairs, such as replacing worn-out blades or adjusting settings.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Equipment Repair: Support mechanics in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues. Hand tools & parts to mechanics during repairs. Learn basis repair techniques & gain familiarity with common equipment problems.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Inventory Management: Keep track of spare parts, tools, and supplies. Assist in organizing the workshop and maintaining an inventory system. Help order replacement parts as needed.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Field Assistance: Accompany equipment operators to the field during sod harvesting & installation. Assist with equipment setup, calibration, and adjustments. Be prepared to troubleshoot minor issues during field operations.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Safety & Cleanliness: Follow safety protocols and guidelines at all times. Keep work areas clean and organized. report any safety hazards or incidents promptly.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Documentation: Maintain records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and equipment usage. Assist in documenting equipment specifications and serial numbers.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px">Valid driver’s license. Position does not require travel to other Duda & Sons offices or locations.
