As an Automotive Technician Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced technicians and service professionals while developing the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary to diagnose, service, and repair Kia vehicles. This position is part of the Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP), a structured apprenticeship program created by Kia America to help Military Veterans transition into the automotive industry.

Doug Smith Kia in Lindon, UT is seeking Military Veterans with mechanical experience who are interested in beginning a rewarding career as an Automotive Service Technician.This position is part of the Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP), a structured apprenticeship program created by Kia America to help Military Veterans transition into the automotive industry. Through this program, participants gain hands-on dealership experience while completing a one-year competency-based apprenticeship that leads to Kia Service Technician certification.VTAP provides Veterans the opportunity to work full-time at a participating Kia dealership while receiving the training, tools, and support needed to develop into highly skilled automotive technicians. The program is GI Bill® approved, allowing eligible Veterans to receive Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) during their apprenticeship.As an Automotive Technician Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced technicians and service professionals while developing the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary to diagnose, service, and repair Kia vehicles.<h3>Job Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Diagnose, maintain, and repair Kia vehicles, including engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems</li><li>Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs using Kia diagnostic procedures and equipment</li><li>Complete repair orders and warranty documentation according to Kia and dealership policies</li><li>Test drive vehicles and verify repair quality using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment</li><li>Communicate effectively with service advisors and shop foremen to ensure a positive customer experience</li><li>Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment while following dealership safety procedures</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Honorable Discharge from U.S. Military Service</li><li>Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record</li><li>Prior experience in a mechanical or technical field</li><li>Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills</li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership service environment</li><li>Willingness to complete background check and drug screening</li></ul> <h3>Preferred Skills (Not Required)  </h3><ul><li>Basic automotive maintenance or repair experience</li><li>Familiarity with diagnostic tools and hand tools</li><li>Experience working with engines, electrical systems, or mechanical equipment</li><li>ASE certifications or technical training (a plus)</li></ul>Benefits<h3>Kia VTAP Apprenticeship Highlights</h3><ul><li>Full-time employment with a participating Kia Retailer</li><li>A program designed specifically for Military Veterans, facilitated by Veterans</li><li>Participation in a one-year, competency-based GI Bill®-approved apprenticeship leading to Kia Service Technician certification</li><li>Eligible Veterans may receive a Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) through the GI Bill® during the apprenticeship</li></ul>

Apprentice Electricians are responsible for planning, diagram, install, and repair electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels in addition to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit (pipe or tubing), and pull wire through conduit. An Electrical Apprentice possesses basic knowledge of new construction and demo electrical power installation including but not limited to alterations additions and /or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment with in the electrical industry.

Consistently test circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components, using instruments; such as the ohmmeter and other testing equipment.Responsibilities: <ul><li>Dig trenches or hole for installation of conduit or supports, hand holes, man holes and foundations</li><li>Install copper-clad ground rods, using a manual post driver</li><li>Break up concrete, using air hammer, to facilitate installation, construction or repair of equipment</li><li>Transport tools, materials, equipment and supplies to work site by hand truck, or heavy motorized truck</li><li>Raise, lower or position equipment tools and materials using hoist hand line or block and tackle</li><li>Inform Journeyman of material needs</li><li>Maintain tools and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order</li><li>Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment</li><li>Thread conduit ends, connect couplings and fabricate and secure conduit support brackets using hand tools</li><li>Drill holes and pull or push wiring through openings, using hand and power tools</li><li>Clean work area and tools</li></ul>Year 1 Apprentice:<ul><li>Must be able to interpret and follow the National Electric Code and comply with state and local building codes</li><li>Must have all tools located on Apprentice Tool List</li><li>Must be enrolled or scheduled to enroll in electrical apprenticeship program</li><li>Must maintain valid apprenticeship card and have it on your person at all times during work hours</li><li>Must be capable of following instructions, have good communication skills, and the ability to retain information</li><li>Must be capable of identifying materials used in the trade</li><li>Completion of required safety trainings</li><li>Recommended completion of (16) electrical continuing education credits</li><li>Must complete OSHA 10</li></ul>Year 2 Apprentice:<ul><li>Valid Apprentice Electrician license with the State of Utah</li><li>Enrolled in Electrical Apprenticeship Program -
