The successful candidate for this position will have the chance to join Emory's robust interdisciplinary communities across campus, including the Departments of African American Studies and the Institute of African Studies, Department of data and Decision Sciences, the Native American and Indigenous Studies Program, the Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies Initiative, Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, the Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies Program, the Linguistics Program, and the Institute for the Liberal Arts. First-year writing serves about half of the Emory undergraduate student body (~800 students/year) and the director's responsibilities include training and mentoring instructors at all levels, supporting prospective and enrolled students, developing and assessing curriculum, and running continuing education for writing instructors.
