The Department houses several research centers including the state Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Program, the Center for Public Health Preparedness and Research, the Emory Alliance for Vaccine Epidemiology, the Center for Spina Bifida Research, Prevention, and Policy, the Emory Program in Cardiovascular Outcomes Research and Epidemiology (EPICORE), the Tuberculosis Research Advancement Center, and the PRISM Health (Programs, Research and Innovation for Sexual and Minority Health) Research Group. The Department of Epidemiology consists of over 50 primary faculty with a wide range of research interests; an additional 70 joint faculty members hold primary appointments in other departments (e.g., Environmental Health; Global Health; Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences; Biostatistics and Bioinformatics; and Medicine) and 60 adjunct faculty, many affiliated with the neighboring Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Cancer Society.
