<h2>Overview</h2><div><div><div><p>Heavy Truck Driver (2026-25255):</p><p>Bowhead is seeking a Lead Heavy truck driver to lead a convoy of buses to and from their prospected training areas to support the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) at Fort Jackson, SC.</p></div></div></div><h2>Responsibilities</h2><div><div><div><ul><li>Leads a convoy of buses to and from their prospected training areas communicate by radio to base command for instructions and rout deviations, gives safety briefs, communicates with the senior drill sergeants when loading the buses, and verifies destination routs on the trams sheet and mediate problems to ensure transport of the trainees are completed.</li><li>Drives motor vehicles ranging in size from sedan to 44 passenger buses on scheduled short trips and transporting personnel from one place to another.</li><li>Observes established time schedules and follows prescribed routes and established speed limits.</li><li>Controls the loading and unloading of passengers and/or equipment that the maximum capacity is observed and only authorized person are transported.</li><li>Completes vehicle utilization records to include miles operated, hours operated, POL added, and number of passengers transported.</li><li>Completes driver’s accident report when necessary.</li><li>Reports any misbehavior of passengers on bus. Performs driver’s maintenance in accordance with established regulations.</li><li>Drives water truck and van truck of less than 4 ton capacity, with up to four wheel drive to transport drinking water, articles and materials throughout the post.</li><li>Observes established time schedules and determines most practical and safe routs observing speed limits in various area and on highways.</li><li>Supervises the loading and unloading of cargo ensuring that the maximum capacity regulations is observed and only authorized cargo is transported.</li><li>Completes vehicle utilization records to include miles and hours operated, and service records. Complete driver’s accident reports when necessary.</li><li>Performs driver’s maintenance in accordance with established regulations.</li><li>Performs maintenance, upkeep of the physical work building, and other tasks assigned by Supervisor.</li><li>Drives other vehicles for which qualified and licensed when required by the workload. Keeps vehicles clean, inside and outside, at all timesPerforms maintenance, upkeep of the physical work building, and other tasks assigned by Supervisor.</li></ul><p/><p/></div></div></div><h2>Qualifications</h2><div><div><div><ul><li>Must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsements and other endorsement that will allow the operation of buses exceeding 26,000 pounds (gross vehicle weight) and the operation of liquid transporters with a capacity of 1,000 gallons or more.</li><li>High school Diploma or GED required</li><li>At least two (2+) years of experience driving with a CDL preferred</li><li>A familiarity with the military is preferred but not required</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.</li></ul><p>Physical Demands:</p><ul><li>Frequently lifts items weighing up to 30 pounds independently and occasionally lifts up to 65 pounds with assistance</li><li>Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged amounts of time</li><li>Uses arms, hands, and fingers for pulling and positioning materials, sewing, and using tools such as shears</li><li>The operator is required to work outside and is occasionally exposed to all weather conditions while loading and unloading vehicle. Drives in all types of traffic and weather and is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents. The operator is subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles.</li></ul><p>SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust Level (NACI). Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. The role involves safely transporting passengers over designated routes, both locally and over longer distances.</p><p> </p><p>This position requires a <strong>Class A CDL with a Passenger Endorsement</strong> and includes working various shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) as well as weekends.
