Through the use of your basic carpentry and masonry skills, your responsibilities will involve general heavy carpentry, structural steel, and masonry duties that include the fabrication, erection, maintenance, and repair of rigging devices, trusses, and other structural assemblies. Through your training, you will develop the skills and experience to enjoy a civilian career in commercial and residential construction as a mason, carpenter, cement mason, concrete finisher, drywall installer, or ceiling tile installer.

Responsibilities: Inserting or positioning materials, clamping, splicing, fitting parts by hand and with power tools, and verifying dimensions of cut material by following supervisor's instructions, blueprint specifications, and the cut sheet layout.
Following prioritized production list assigned by Assembler Lead and using assigned press stations to place and press plates on appropriate lumber.
p>Major Responsibilities: - Performs rough and finished carpentry;
- Modifies, repairs, and maintains buildings and building surfaces;
- Inspects, repairs and/or replaces ceiling tiles;
- Reads, interprets, and works from blueprints and drawings; creates sketches of items or modifications necessary for jobs;
- Schedules and coordinates work; provides rough estimates and lays out scope of work;
- Performs hand and bench work in the Carpenter Shop or at the job site; operates planers, jointers, drill presses, power saws, routers, and other woodworking machinery;
- Assembles, repairs and/or modifies furniture;
- Repairs and sharpens hand and machine tools;
- Assists other structural trade's personnel in the performance of their duties, e.g. roofing, dry wall repair, window replacement;
- Uses computer to access e-mail, receive work instructions and other administrative information to include electronic payroll forms;
- Communicates daily using a two-way radio, and/or communication device in order to respond to work-related routine and emergency information;
- Ensures shop equipment is in proper working condition;
- Performs housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, uncluttered, and safe work environment;
- Mixes, matches, and applies stains, dyes, and finishes and ensures their proper storage and disposal; matches lumber types and grades;
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
