Skills required include vent management, airway management, high flow O2, chest tube care, peripheral IV starts/maintenance, wound care, wound vacs, drain management (JP, hemovacs), nephrostomy tube care, pain management, PCA, central line management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Unit support includes 24/7 RT, in-house hospitalist, daytime intensivist with tele ICU camera access, charge RN resource support, OT/PT/SLP during days, rapid response/code team, and centralized tele monitoring.
