Sets up and operates computer numerical control (CNC) vertical and horizontal 5-Axis machining centers to perform machine functions such as surfacing, profiling, boring, facing, and threading parts of metallicworkpieces such as castings, weldments, forgings, plates, blocks, and tubing by performing the following duties: Essential Functions:Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Perform set-ups by setting tools up, offsets, and compensation; calculating tooling requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs; ability to '3-point' workpieces with stock models and tooling balls; ability to hang large work pieces on horizontal machine centers.
