The Construction Laborer is based out of Columbus, NE and is responsible for performing various tasks and general labor functions at construction sites in a safe and efficient manner for project sites locally and/or nation-wide. This includes agricultural building, construction, site work, concrete, masonry, metals, wood, and plastics, thermal, and moisture protection, doors, windows, finishes, specialties, equipment, furnishings, and special construction.

Summary:The Construction Laborer is based out of Columbus, NE and is responsible for performing various tasks and general labor functions at construction sites in a safe and efficient manner for project sites locally and/or nation-wide. The basic function of the crewperson is to assist the superintendent and other crewmembers in installation or fabrication of agricultural building systems. This includes agricultural building, construction, site work, concrete, masonry, metals, wood, and plastics, thermal, and moisture protection, doors, windows, finishes, specialties, equipment, furnishings, and special construction. Duties and Responsibilities:<ol><li>Assist with installation or fabrication of agricultural building systems</li><li>Be aware of, understand, and follow CCS' safety culture, particularly the use of hardhats, safety glasses, ear plugs, dust masks, reflective clothing, and assigned harnesses. </li><li>Maintain overall safety of all persons on job site daily</li><li>Performs tasks safely and does not attempt to complete without the proper training</li><li>Knows location of first aid kit, fire extinguisher, MSDS, and emergency information when reporting to jobsite</li><li>Attend and participate in all required safety trainings</li><li>Use, maintain, and inspect safety equipment and personal protective equipment prior to use</li><li>Keep project site clean and appearance professional daily</li><li>Maintains equipment and tools in good condition with all safety guards and features in place when in operation and completes safety inspections as requested</li><li>Flexibility in hours is required, though can change due to outside factors including job scheduling and weather conditions</li><li>Ability and willingness to travel when required</li><li>Perform job in a professional manner (appearance, language, behavior) </li><li>Loading and unloading materials and equipment</li><li>Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment</li><li>Following instructions from Superintendent and implementing construction plans</li><li>Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties</li><li>All other duties assigned</li></ol> Experience:At least 1 year of construction experience preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of:<ul><li>Working knowledge of construction tools and equipment used in various trades</li><li>General construction industry and the sub-contractor trades</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Problem solving and organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, and multitasking</li></ul>Ability to:<ul><li>Perform tasks and follow directions assigned by the Superintendent accurately and within the specified timeframe</li><li>Have mechanical aptitude to handle physical and demanding requirements of the position</li><li>Take pride in servicing the customer and having a strong commitment to safety</li><li>Identify and troubleshoot problems before they become major issues</li><li>Handle multiple tasks at the same time while maintaining attention to detail</li><li>Work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines</li><li>Must be able to establish good working relationship with many individuals including customers, Superintendents, PMs, subcontractors, and crew</li><li>Travel frequently up to 75%</li></ul>Physical Requirements:<ul><li>Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of a job site in all types of weather</li><li>Must be able to encounter hot and cold temperatures when outside on jobsites</li><li>Must be able to encounter dusty, muddy, slippery, and wet conditions depending on the time of the year</li><li>Exposure to characteristic construction site danger </li></ul>
