We are looking for an experienced Controller to serve as the financial backbone of our sawmill operation. This is a hands-on, site-based leadership role for a finance professional who thrives in a manufacturing environment and wants real impact on operational decisions. If you have a strong cost accounting background and enjoy working closely with production teams.What You'll DoDay-to-Day Accounting & Reporting<ul><li>Manage general ledger, accounts payable, payroll reconciliation, and fixed assets</li><li>Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and corporate reporting standards</li><li>Maintain cost accounting systems covering lumber production, log procurement, and by-product sales</li><li>Reconcile inventory and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods</li><li>Review daily production, yield, and downtime data for financial impact</li><li>Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and audit requirements</li></ul>Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis<ul><li>Lead the annual operating budget process and monthly forecast updates</li><li>Analyze actuals vs. budget and identify key cost drivers and performance gaps</li><li>Provide financial insight to support decisions on pricing, production efficiency, and capital investment</li><li>Develop and maintain standard cost models and dashboards for leadership review</li></ul>Operations Partnership<ul><li>Partner with the General Manager, Maintenance Superintendent, and Production leadership on cost control, throughput, and yield improvement</li><li>Participate in daily/weekly production meetings to keep financial data aligned with operational performance</li><li>Coach department managers on budgeting and financial accountability</li><li>Serve as the primary site contact for corporate finance, HR, and auditors</li></ul>Compliance & Controls<ul><li>Ensure all accounting practices comply with GAAP, corporate policy, and Louisiana regulations</li><li>Monitor payroll and labor allocations for accuracy and labor law compliance</li><li>Support ESG and environmental/safety cost tracking and reporting</li><li>Maintain audit-ready documentation for internal and external reviews</li></ul>What We're Looking For<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred)</li><li>5+ years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing or sawmill experience strongly preferred</li><li>Solid grasp of cost accounting, inventory management, and variance analysis</li><li>Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (UKG, Sage, SAP, or similar)</li><li>Strong communicator who can translate financial data for non-finance stakeholders</li><li>Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-floor environment</li></ul>Work EnvironmentThis is an on-site, full-time role at our sawmill facility. You'll work primarily in an office setting but will regularly visit production, maintenance, and yard areas. Standard business hours apply, with occasional extended hours around month-end close. PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, hi-vis vest) is required in designated production zones.
