Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing LPN license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license if you are a recent graduate of a nursing program in Virginia and not licensed The NCLEX-PN exam must be scheduled at the time of application Working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of practical or general nursing care Demonstrated ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals Ability to maintain appropriate documentation, provide first aid, and carry out providers orders in applying treatments Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to administer practical nursing care Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hire. • Screens for sick call • Administers medications • Provides first aid and basic life support to patients and employees as needed • Maintains open lines of communication with security and treatment staff while providing input and feedback to assist the facility provider in organizing a treatment plan • Records all pertinent information into the medical record • Interacts with other departments as needed • Promotes continued competence through education, certification, with a focus on correctional nursing.
