<b>Department</b><br/>MOCA, Curatorial-OPS <br/><br/><b>Compensation</b><br/>$14.00 to Negotiable Hourly <br/><br/>Under the direction of curatorial staff, responsible for assisting in the installation of exhibitions presented in the museum, ensuring that the vision of the artist and curator is fulfilled. <br/><br/><b>Tasks include:</b><br/><ul><li>Installation and de-installation of exhibitions </li><li>Preparation of artwork for exhibition and/or shipment/storage </li><li>Installation of technology such as media players and monitors </li><li>Safe and efficient crating, packing and transportation of artwork </li><li>Efficiently and neatly painting gallery walls </li><li>Maintenance of work spaces, tools and environment </li><li>Working in a team environment with curatorial department </li><li>On occasion need to work late evening and weekend hours </li></ul><br/><br/><b>Required Qualifications</b><br/>- Knowledge of contemporary art <br/>- Experience in the hands-on installation and de-installation of complex exhibitions <br/>- Familiarity with presentation technology such as media players and digital programming display <br/>- Proficiency in interior painting, drywall installation, taping, carpentry, etc. <br/>- Able to work as part of a team with excellent communication skills <br/>- Demonstrated practical experience in construction, fabrication and painting of exhibition assets, and appropriate work methods for utilizing necessary power tools. <br/>- Ability to work in physically demanding situations, including heavy lifting and working at heights, and flexibility to work out of hours where required. <br/><br/><b>Statement(s) of Understanding</b><br/><br/>This position requires a background check. <div>The Staff Pad is partnering with a respected organization to hire an experienced <b>Art Handler II (Driver)</b>. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in hands-on work, has a strong attention to detail, and understands the importance of safely handling high-value artwork and artifacts.<br/></div><p>You’ll play a key role in transporting, installing, and preserving artwork—helping ensure every piece is handled with precision and care.<br/></p><div><hr/><br/></div><h3>What You’ll Do<br/></h3><ul><li>Safely pack, transport, and unpack artwork and artifacts<br/></li><li>Complete local and regional deliveries (including driving responsibilities)<br/></li><li>Assist with installation and deinstallation of exhibitions<br/></li><li>Prepare and maintain accurate condition reports and inventory records<br/></li><li>Collaborate with curators and team members to ensure proper display and handling<br/></li><li>Conduct routine checks of storage and display areas to maintain optimal conditions<br/></li><li>Follow best practices for art handling, storage, and transportation<br/></li></ul><div><hr/><br/></div><h3>What We’re Looking For<br/></h3><p><b>Required:</b><br/></p><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent<br/></li><li><div>2+ years of experience in: <br/></div><ul><li>Art handling, museum, or gallery environments<br/></li><li>OR relevant experience in moving/handling high-value or fragile items<br/></li></ul></li><li>Experience with safe packing, handling, and transportation techniques<br/></li><li>Strong attention to detail and organizational skills<br/></li><li>Ability to work both independently and as part of a team<br/></li></ul><p><b>Preferred:</b><br/></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or a related field<br/></li><li>Knowledge of art conservation techniques and materials<br/></li><li>Experience working with a variety of art forms and mediums<br/></li></ul><div><hr/><br/></div><h3>Key Skills<br/></h3><ul><li>Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting accuracy<br/></li><li>Physically capable of safely handling and moving artwork<br/></li><li>Strong communication and teamwork skills<br/></li><li>Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced, hands-on environment<br/></li><li>Appreciation for fine art and proper handling techniques<br/></li></ul><div><hr/><br/></div><h3>Why This Role<br/></h3><p>This is a unique opportunity to work closely with valuable and meaningful collections while building hands-on experience in art logistics, installation, and preservation.
