Summary:
This position answers emergency telephones, dispatches ambulances, and takes control of an emergency scene until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel arrive. Completes billing forms, maintains computer logs, arranges air flights, and coordinates fire and police assistance and advanced life support intercepts.  

Responsibilities:
(40%)* Receives incoming emergency ambulance requests. Dispatches ambulances to emergency and non-emergency situations.  (30%)* Determines the need for police and/or fire-rescue assistance and contacts the appropriate law enforcement agency.  (30%)* Maintains daily computer logs for both Gladwin and Midland EMS. Maintains daily computer statistics for Gladwin and Midland. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Completes all billing forms using proper codes and obtaining any additional information needed.  Receives and schedules non-emergency transfers. Maintains adequate coverage for both Midland and Gladwin departments by shifting vehicles.  Determines and coordinates Advanced Life Support (ALS) and helicopter intercepts.  Takes control of scene via telephone giving pre-arrival emergency medical directions to family, patient, or bystanders.  MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft® Windows. Certifications and Licensures:
BLS - Basic Life SupportRequired Equivalent Experience - Within 1 month of hire or transfer EMT-B - EMT BasicPreferred Equivalent Experience - Preferred knowledge of basic life support and emergency medicine as normally acquired through completion of Basic EMT program. EMT-S - EMT SpecialistPreferred Equivalent Experience -  

Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Experience:  One year field experience is preferred. 911 Dispatch course offered by the county will be required within 90-days of hire or transfer to the position.   

Other Information:
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:Require knowledge of basic life support and emergency medicine as normally acquired through completion of Basic EMT program and licensing and prefer 1 year field experience is preferred.  Completion of training program within departmental orientation to obtain certification as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher. Ability to work independently to produce desired results. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Geographical skills needed to read maps and to take and give directions. Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done annually. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.  Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.  Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.  Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.  Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.  Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.  May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.  Physical Demand Level: Sedentary.  Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.

Summary:
This position is responsible for the patient flow throughout radiology/transportation services. This involves dispatch, answering phones calls, taking messages and relaying them appropriately. Appropriate routing of paperwork and requisition for patient care is essential.

Certifications and Licensures:

This role is responsible for communicating with drivers throughout the day, assisting with route-related issues, coordinating service requests, and ensuring efficient daily operations. The Dispatcher will handle incoming service orders, direct drivers, resolve service concerns, and serve as a key liaison between customers, operations, sales, and customer service teams. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. Experience using dispatching or routing software is preferred, as this role requires the use of GFL's proprietary software to enter ticket information, monitor route activity, and track productivity metrics. Candidates should possess a combination of office and labor experience, providing a practical understanding of field operations and workforce management. Mechanical knowledge and logistics experience are highly desirable and will be considered a strong asset. Key Responsibilities: • Schedule service and satisfy customer needs for service changes. Ensure that service is completed in accordance with established policies. • Dispatch calls to routes based upon designated route and driver location. • Perform driver check-ins at day's end to ensure complete and accurate paperwork completion. • Distribute, collect and review route sheets for proper days end data entry. • Ensure coordination with other departments, clarifying roles and responsibilities for resolving service issues. • May perform some additional responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.] • Interacts with customers, customer service department, sales, & Operations staff reporting to Operations Manager. • Works with routing specialists to optimize routes. • Fields incoming calls / emails from customers. • Trouble shoots and resolves potential delivery and pickup problems before they result in service issues. • Assists in determining daily level of driver staffing to provide best mix of responsiveness and productivity. • Records and document information from drivers and distributes to appropriate departments. • Communicates with maintenance shop personnel. • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally via email, telephone and two way devices.
