Provide day to day leadership of the Petroleum Distribution team, oversee dispatch execution and special distribution projects, and partner cross functionally to support system reliability, inventory management, and operational efficiency. Lead, coach, and develop the Petroleum Distribution team through daily supervision, regular performance feedback, training oversight, and ongoing communication to support engagement, accountability, and skill development.

Overview:
Supervise petroleum distribution operations and team performance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient fuel delivery across the network. Provide day to day leadership of the Petroleum Distribution team, oversee dispatch execution and special distribution projects, and partner cross functionally to support system reliability, inventory management, and operational efficiency. Play a critical role in preventing store runouts, supporting petroleum supply objectives, and continuously improving distribution operations.

Responsibilities:
1.    Lead, coach, and develop the Petroleum Distribution team through daily supervision, regular performance feedback, training oversight, and ongoing communication to support engagement, accountability, and skill development. 2.    Oversee daily petroleum distribution and dispatch operations to ensure timely, efficient, and compliant execution of fuel deliveries and related activities. 3.    Serve as the primary escalation point for complex dispatch issues, ensuring effective resolution while maintaining service levels and operational continuity. 4.    Utilize operational metrics and analytics to evaluate dispatch performance, identify improvement opportunities, and drive efficiencies in routing, scheduling, and execution. 5.    Ensure petroleum inventory levels are appropriately monitored and managed to prevent store runouts and support business continuity. 6.    Provide supervisory oversight for special distribution activities, including hold down loads, pump outs, and project based deliveries, ensuring coordination, compliance, and timely execution. 7.    Collaborate cross functionally with internal departments to support petroleum projects, system reliability, and resolution of TMS, tank monitoring, UST, and telematics issues. 8.    Support the effective use, configuration, and upkeep of distribution management systems to accommodate operational needs, projects, and business growth.

Qualifications:
(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered) Education •    High School Diploma/GED required •    Technical / Trade Training / Sheetz Training required •    Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration or related field preferred Experience •    Minimum 4 years’ experience in transportation, distribution, or operations required  •    Previous experience with execution or overseeing logistics of time-sensitive operational deadlines required  •    Previous dispatching experience with terminal management systems (TMS) preferred •    Previous supervisory experience preferred. Licenses/Certifications: •    HM-126F required (provided upon hire) Tools & Equipment  •    General Office Equipment

This is an unpaid, non-benefit eligible internship position in partnership with the DoD SkillBridge program.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Lead with a safety mindset that ensures that every US Foods associate, our customers, and the general public with whom our drivers interact remain injury free, always. Champion safety procedures, processes and training to create and maintain a safety-first culture in the Transportation department.</li><li>Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through one-on-one coaching, training on policy and procedures, assisting in problem resolution when required, and leading by example. Ensure all drivers and other Transportation department associates are appropriately trained in job duties as well as safety and legal responsibilities.</li><li>Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates by discussing performance with Sr. Transportation Managers and creating plans to address gaps.</li><li>Create an atmosphere in which upward communication is encouraged, and motivate associates to achieve department goals and objectives.</li><li>Direct and supervise the work and productivity of drivers and clerical associates within the Transportation department. Drive associate engagement and retention, and create a culture that embodies US Foods values.</li><li>Build high-performing teams by participating in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel, in conjunction with Sr. Transportation Managers. Review performance, coach on service and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action.</li><li>Monitor production goals and maintain a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction. Anticipate, analyze and troubleshoot problems with deliveries and devise cost-effective and legal solutions; act to implement same. Ensure team understands and adheres to DOT regulations.</li><li>Identify and stop waste, and improve processes to complete work more safely and efficiently.</li><li>Conduct routine Safety and Driver Meetings.</li></ul>Oversee maintenance of driver qualification files.<ul><li>Investigate all accidents, maintain an accident file, track causes and take appropriate preventative action.</li><li>Effectively schedule working shifts by leveraging appropriate planning tools (i.e., Microsoft Excel)</li><li>Other duties assigned by manager.</li></ul>SUPERVISION:<ul><li>Direct: Union and/or non-union Drivers</li></ul>RELATIONSHIPS<ul><li>Internal: Transportation leaders and coworkers; Drivers; Warehouse leaders; Internal customers across departments (e.g., Sales)</li><li>External: Customers</li></ul>WORK ENVIRONMENT<ul><li>May spend significant amount of time on the road. Will spend time in an office working on a computer.</li></ul>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRelated Experience/Requirements:<ul><li>Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution required.</li><li>Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.</li><li>Experience as a driver a plus.</li></ul>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:<ul><li>Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures.</li><li>Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.</li><li>Strong understanding of DOT requirements.
