We are intentionally raising the bar and are looking for senior civil engineers with proven expertise in rebar detailing, embedment coordination, concrete placement, and quality assurance in complex, highly regulated construction environments. Ensure rebar installation and concrete placement are performed in strict accordance with ACI codes, project specifications, and approved submittals.

We are seeking highly experienced Field Engineers to support the construction of a critical NQA-1 concrete structure. Reporting to the Project Manager or designated Aecon representative, this role is responsible for ensuring that all field construction activities strictly comply with design drawings, 3D models, engineering specifications, ACI code requirements, and NQA-1 quality standards.This is not an entry-level or generalist role. We are intentionally raising the bar and are looking for senior civil engineers with proven expertise in rebar detailing, embedment coordination, concrete placement, and quality assurance in complex, highly regulated construction environments.What You Will Do<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Serve as a technical authority in the field, ensuring construction work complies with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and standards.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Review and interpret rebar drawings, embedment layouts, specifications, and 3D models to verify accurate installation and coordination with suppliers.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Verify that BBC/embedment suppliers meet all technical and contractual requirements.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Ensure rebar installation and concrete placement are performed in strict accordance with ACI codes, project specifications, and approved submittals.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Support construction of NQA-1 concrete foundations, including documentation, inspections, and quality records.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Lead daily coordination meetings with construction crews to review schedules, work plans, material availability, and readiness for execution.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Review and manage shop drawings, RFIs, material submittals, and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Identify and proactively address risks related to production, quality, materials, equipment, or schedule.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Support development of work packages, field execution plans, and schedules.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Initiate, manage, and track inspections, certificates, permits, and quality documentation.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Coordinate subcontractor methods, manpower, and sequencing to maintain schedule and quality.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Manage project quantity tracking and cost coding in coordination with finance and accounting teams.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Support project closeout activities, including reconciliation of documentation with owner representatives.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success.</li></ul>What You Bring<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Post-secondary education in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred</li><li style="line-height:normal">Technical aptitude and experience with drafting or PDF Software </li><li style="line-height:normal">Zero to five years of experience as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator in large-scale, industrial, power, or process construction environments.</li><li style="line-height:normal">The ability to pass a Department of Energy Background Check</li><li style="line-height:normal">Demonstrated experience with:<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Rebar detailing, installation, and inspection</li><li style="line-height:normal">Concrete placement and quality control in accordance with ACI code requirements</li><li style="line-height:normal">NQA-1 concrete construction</li></ul></li><li style="line-height:normal">Strong ability to read, interpret, and enforce:<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Engineering specifications</li><li style="line-height:normal">Rebar drawings and 3D models</li><li style="line-height:normal">Quality and code requirements</li></ul></li><li style="line-height:normal">Working knowledge of construction equipment, materials, and industry best practices.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Proficiency with construction and engineering software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Maximo, SAP, or similar tools.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).</li><li style="line-height:normal">Excellent communication skills with the confidence to hold the line on technical and quality requirements in the field.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Detail-oriented, disciplined, and quality-focused mindset.</li></ul>Additional Requirements<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Employment is contingent upon being granted access to customer sites.</li><li style="line-height:normal">U.S. Citizenship is required.</li></ul>Why Join Us<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Work on a technically complex, high-standards project where engineering excellence matters.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Be part of a team that values quality, accountability, and technical competence.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Opportunity to apply your expertise in a role where your engineering judgment directly impacts project success.</li></ul>

OVERVIEW:
Merrick & Company is looking for an Electrical I&C Equipment Designer for our growing Aiken, SC office. This position supports Nuclear Services and Technology (NST) projects related to Department of Energy (DOE) work.   This team specializes in the design of prototype/one-off custom equipment, gloveboxes, hot cells, specialty research equipment and custom-designed, remotely operated mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials. Additional specialization includes the design of moderate hazard non-reactor nuclear facilities and facility upgrades. The ideal candidate will have a passion for electrical design, be able and willing to perform CAD as well as design of electrical and instrumentation/controls systems, be nimble in accepting a wide range of assignments both nuclear and non-nuclear and enjoy a team design environment. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
<ul><li style="margin-bottom:0in">Perform design and layout of electrical, instrumentation, and controls equipment and wiring during the production of CAD documents. </li><li>Work on a variety of activities including conceptual and detailed design of low voltage and medium voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, process equipment and instrumentation.</li><li>Follow general outline of project objectives, requirements, and design approaches prescribed by staff.</li><li>Under direct supervision of senior designers and engineers develop electrical and instrumentation designs and drawings for assigned projects.</li><li>Develop electrical equipment layouts, cable tray and conduit routing plans and cable schedules.</li><li>Develop instrument location plans and installation details.</li><li>Develop instrument, PLC and DCS wiring drawings.</li></ul>

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul><li>High School diploma or equivalent.</li><li style="color:black">Excellent communication and writing skills.</li><li style="color:black">Must be able to meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.</li><li>Microsoft Office: Excel and Word.</li><li>Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.</li></ul>

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul><li>Minimum of two (2) years of electrical I&C design experience.</li><li>Associate’s degree – Drafting/Design, Graphic Design or Technical College Certification or Equivalent Experience.</li><li>MicroStation, AutoCAD and Revit proficiency are beneficial but not required.</li><li>Experience using technical codes: NEC, ISA, IEEE, API, Regulatory Codes is beneficial.</li></ul>
