Set up tooling, work holding, and workpiece, and operate a variety of machining equipment to perform various machining functions, such as turning, facing, drilling, boring, threading, grooving, and milling of metallic and non-metallic workpieces. Read sketches or drawings to determine the tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences while utilizing knowledge of machine tool capabilities, machinability of materials, and shop math.
