The College of Engineering & Computer Science has an interdisciplinary PhD program in Materials Science and Engineering and several centers in which the successful candidate can participate as appropriate: the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Cyber Systems ( CAMICS ), the Center for Nanotechnology, the Center for Multidisciplinary Research Excellence in Cyber-Physical Infrastructure Systems ( MECIS ), the University Transportation Center for Railway Safety ( UTCRS ), and the Industrial Training and Assessment Center. The department will consider all qualified candidates; however, preference will be given to candidates who can enhance the department's electrical and computer engineering capabilities in areas such as, but not limited to, electric power and energy systems, telecommunications, digital communications, and applied artificial intelligence (AI).Successful candidates are expected to start in the Fall 2026 semester.
