Coaches are to ensure that each participating student athlete has: Met TSSAA Eligibility requirements, a certified permission form signed and dated by a physician and parent/guardian before the student is allowed to participate in any interscholastic athletic try-outs, practice, or be issued equipment. •Allow and encourage athletes to develop skills and interests in other (school and community) athletics/arts and non athletics/art activities.
Must be physically active and interactive throughout the school day (i.e., be able to stand for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, do light lifting, push, pull, step and have good finger dexterity, etc.). Depending upon assignment, some EA's such as those assisting in the school office and those assisting with comprehensive development programs may be exposed to bodily fluids and therefore need to use universal precautions.
2. Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assigned.
Assist the head coach in verifying that athletes adhere to the rules and regulations set by the TSSAA/TMSAA or other applicable athletic association, the Maury County School Board and all building-level policies and procedures and report any violations to the appropriate party. Understands the proper administrative chain of command and refers all student and parent requests or grievances through proper channels.
