Desirable Qualifications: • Knowledge in the appropriate field as evidenced by coursework • Prior relevant successful community college or university teaching experience in the field • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations • Demonstrated knowledge of the Native Hawaiian language, history, politics, culture, practices, and contemporary issues • Successful community college teaching experience • Ability to use writing assignments and integrate teaching of appropriate thinking skills into course content as an integral part of students' classroom learning activities. Duties & Responsibilities: • Under general supervisor, to conduct courses in Hawaiian • Maintain minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught • Prepare course outlines and reports related to teaching and student progress • Work under supervision of department chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area • May include instructional assignments involving distance education • Other duties as assigned.
