We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing building systems team and play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of complex mechanical systems for a diverse portfolio of projects.

This position offers the opportunity to lead high-impact work across commercial, industrial, education, and municipal facilities while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, and designers. <br/><br/></div><div>The ideal candidate is a seasoned mechanical engineer with strong technical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, a passion for mentoring junior staff, and the ability to manage projects from concept through construction. This role combines hands-on engineering, project leadership, and client engagement, making it well suited for a professional looking to take the next step in their career within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.<br/><br/><strong>This position may sit fully remote with travel as needed to job sites within the Northeast.</strong><br/><br/></div><br/><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><br/><ul><li>Lead mechanical design and serve as project manager for building systems projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.</li><li>Develop and review construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.</li><li>Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, local building codes).</li><li>Manage project scope, schedule, and budgets for assigned projects.</li><li>Serve as the primary point of contact for select projects, building and maintaining strong client relationships.</li><li>Coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary design teams, including internal civil, structural, and electrical staff.</li><li>Oversee construction administration activities, including submittal review, responses to RFIs, and site visits.</li><li>Lead and participate in internal and external project meetings, maintaining clear communication with clients, consultants, and contractors.</li><li>Support proposal development, level-of-effort estimating, and project planning.</li><li>Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the mechanical team.</li></ul><br/><h3>Skills, Knowledge and Expertise</h3><br/><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.</li><li>10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection).</li><li>Professional Engineer (PE) license required.</li><li>Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for MEP design.</li><li>Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection, and applicable building codes and ASHRAE standards.</li><li>Experience managing projects through design and construction phases.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.</li><li>Familiarity with BIM coordination tools preferred.</li><li><strong>Ability to travel to job sites in CT, MA, and RI.</strong></li></ul><div>This position may be open to a flexible, part-time arrangement of 20+ hours per week.
