Specialized Experience for outside applicants (those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service):One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes controlling and extinguishing fires (i.e., as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade); responding to fires, hazardous materials, and rescue incidents; driving firefighting vehicles and operating specialized firefighting equipment; and performing medical treatment and life support techniques.
