The day to day includes but is not limited to: • Designing and developing mechanical solutions from concept through implementation, often starting from a blank slate • Creating custom brackets, mounts, and hardware components to integrate COTS equipment into networked and transportable systems • Assessing system requirements and existing hardware constraints to deliver practical, manufacturable designs • Performing and applying basic mechanical analyses (thermal, airflow, vibration, FEA) to support design decisions • Transitioning completed designs into fabrication and production, supporting build and integration activities • Supporting developmental and qualification testing, including test planning, execution, and issue resolution • Conducting engineering investigations and failure analysis to identify root causes and corrective actions • Producing clear, detailed technical documentation and reports (drawings, analyses, trade studies, test plans, user guides) • Collaborating with cross disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, RF, systems, PMs) and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders • Managing multiple design efforts simultaneously while meeting schedule and quality expectations Compensation: $50.30/hr. The work spans concept development, detailed mechanical design, analysis, testing support, and documentation, with a strong emphasis on custom mounting solutions, COTS integration, and transportable system designs.
