Determine optimal tooling material, tool types, coolants, feeds, and speeds for rare metals and new alloys; account for heat-treating, annealing, plating, and welding effects; recommend more efficient or economical machining processes; resolve machining problems independently. The position manufactures complex, non-routine parts and RDT&E items from raw stock using conventional and CNC machine tools and contributes to the design, repair, and modification of prototypes, test articles, instrumentation, equipment, and unique project components.
