This position will primarily be located in the greater Grand Junction or Rifle area, with occasional travel to the Denver area / northern Front Range of Colorado. Key responsibilities include planning and executing field activities, data collection, inspections, soil, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling activities, soil classification, soil boring logs, environmental drilling and monitoring well installation oversight, authoring technical reports, communicating with staff, ensuring quality execution, and evaluating site data to proactively progress projects toward regulatory closure. Position will require working with and around heavy equipment/and or communicating with other subcontractors (e.g., drillers, laboratories). Qualified candidates should possess experience or knowledge relevant to: <ul><li> 0 - 3 years of related experience , new graduates encouraged to apply </li><li> Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science or related experience </li><li> Familiarity with upstream oil and gas operations is a plus </li><li> Experience conducting soil and/or groundwater environmental field investigations and data collection/sampling is a plus </li><li> Oversight of soil borings, rock coring and monitoring well installation is strongly preferred </li><li> Observation and highly detailed documentation in support of scientific investigations and engineered solutions </li><li> Preparation of field reports </li><li> Experience with various contaminants including petroleum compounds, metals, etc. </li><li> Knowledge of Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) sampling, investigation, and remediation regulations is a plus </li></ul><ul><li> Experience related to scheduling, lab coordination, data evaluation, technical report writing, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) is a plus </li><li> Knowledge of Colorado and/or Utah stormwater regulations and permitting requirements is a plus </li><li> Familiar with SPCC and stormwater inspection requirements is a plus </li><li> Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel is required, as well as effective oral and written communication skills </li><li> General GIS and EQuIS database knowledge is a plus </li><li> Demonstrate ability to follow direction and work independently or in a team environment </li><li> Willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather including hot and cold temperatures </li></ul><ul><li> This role will include substantial field work (anticipate 3-5 days per week, year-round) </li><li><ul><li> Field hours will vary and will regularly require longer than a standard 8-hour day (sometimes 10-13 hours per day) </li></ul></li></ul><ul><li> When not working in the field, the employee will perform their duties remotely from a home‑based office. </li></ul><ul><li> Willingness to travel out of town occasionally for project work (approximately once or twice per quarter) to Denver area/CO Front Range </li><li> Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks </li><li> Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as organization and multi-tasking skills </li></ul> The position requires strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities in order to ensure compliance with relevant state/federal regulations and client-specific requirements.
