The Peer Support Specialist provides flexible, community/program-based peer support services that are designed to promote the recovery, empowerment, and community integration of individuals who have severe behavioral health and/or substance use disorder challenges by facilitating opportunities for individuals receiving service to direct their own recovery and advocacy process, by teaching and supporting the development and utilization of skills needed to facilitate the individual''s recovery, promoting the knowledge of available service options and choices and the utilization of natural resources in the community, and helping facilitate the development of a sense of wellness and self-worth. Together, our 120,000 caregivers (all employees) serve in over 50 hospitals, over 1,000 clinics and a full range of health and social services across Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
