Apprentice Teachers observe and learn from Master Teachers, co-teach with teacher-leaders, provide in-house substitute teaching coverage for teachers, and support teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small group student instruction. Depending on school needs and candidate background, Apprentice Teachers may also teach their own class of students, allowing for direct teaching experience within a more limited teaching load. Apprentice Teachers will also assist with a variety of work inside and outside of the classroom, including teaching Enrichment classes, organizing student events, and developing mentoring relationships with students. Through full participation in summer and school-year professional development, as well as regular meetings with an instructional coach, Apprentice Teachers will have many opportunities to gain the experience and support necessary to develop their teaching skills. By the end of the year, Apprentice Teachers will be very strong candidates for full-time teaching positions. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required for events and field trips. SUPERVISORPrimary: 21st Century Site Coordinator  RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES<ol><li> Program Design & Facilitation</li></ol><ul><li>Design and deliver engaging OST programming aligned with:</li><li>Diné language and culture</li><li>Social-emotional wellness</li><li>College and career readiness</li><li>Real-world life skills and hands-on skill building opportunities that reflect the facilitator's strengths and interests</li><li>Recreation, arts, and enrichment opportunities</li><li>Facilitate structured and student-led activities, including workshops, clubs, and experiential learning opportunities.</li><li>Integrate student voice, leadership, and choice into program development (e.g., student-led groups, peer mentorship, leadership initiatives).</li><li>Support culturally grounded programming such as Culture Nights, Wellness activities, and community-based learning.</li><li>Incorporate personal skills, talents, and areas of passion into programming to provide students with diverse, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences.</li></ul><ol start="2"><li> Student Engagement & Leadership Development</li></ol><ul><li>Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.</li><li>Serve as a mentor and positive role model.</li><li>Encourage student participation, leadership, and ownership of programming.</li><li>Support peer mentorship and leadership opportunities.</li></ul><ol start="3"><li> Data, Attendance & Program Improvement</li></ol><ul><li>Maintain accurate attendance records for all OST activities.</li><li>Utilize systems such as EZReports, Modern Campus Involve, and survey tools.</li><li>Collect and analyze student feedback to improve programming.</li><li>Support reporting requirements for 21st CCLC grant compliance.</li></ul><ol start="4"><li> Student Safety & Program Oversight</li></ol><ul><li>Supervise students during on-campus and off-campus activities.</li><li>Ensure safe use of facilities, equipment, and materials.</li><li>Support structured use of program spaces (rec room, Hogan, fitness areas, etc.).</li><li>Follow school safety procedures and reporting protocols.</li></ul><ol start="5"><li> Experiential Learning & Trips</li></ol><ul><li>Support planning and facilitation of:</li><li>Field trips</li><li>College visits</li><li>Cultural exchanges</li><li>Outdoor recreation opportunities</li><li>Ensure safety, logistics, and student engagement during all off-campus experiences.</li></ul><ol start="6"><li> Family & Community Engagement</li></ol><ul><li>Support family engagement events (Culture Nights, Round Dances, etc.)</li><li>Build relationships with families and community partners.</li><li>Assist in promoting OST programming to students and families.</li></ul><ol start="7"><li> Collaboration & Professional Growth</li></ol><ul><li>Collaborate with school staff, residential life, and community partner.</li><li>Participate in professional development related to youth development, cultural responsiveness, and OST best practices.</li><li>Support overall Student Life & Wellness initiatives.</li></ul><ol start="8"><li> Additional Duties</li></ol><ul><li>Perform other duties as assigned to support the continued growth, quality, and implementation of the 21st CCLC program and Student Life & Wellness initiatives.</li></ul>EVALUATIONWill be evaluated in accordance with the Navajo Preparatory School Board, Inc. policies and procedures.
