Job DescriptionJob Title: Production ExpeditorJob Function: Rebuild/ProductionReports To: Production Planning SupervisorClassification: Non-ExemptDate Approved/Revised: February 13, 2024SummaryThe Production Expediter will ensure production schedules, deadlines, and quotas are met by overseeing the flow of materials, components, tooling, and paperwork among departments, and by taking action to solve problems and fulfill rush orders.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEmployee must be able to perform these essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job, absent undue hardship.<ul><li>Works in conjunction with production management, supply chain, production leads, quality and shipping to assure scheduling of work orders dates are met and available for shipping to customers or stock orders in stock available for shipment. Pulls and stages material for work orders as they are scheduled to assure material is available for use for the production shifts.</li><li>Assures all material staging locations are clearly labeled and organized in a 5S manner to avoid any confusion on part numbers or work orders. Labels shelving as needed.</li><li>Identifies material shortages in advance of work orders staged ready to be worked and tracks them with supply chain providing best available dates for delivery.</li><li>Manages the short cut or short stock areas to minimize excess material and identify material to be used first in work orders prior to cutting into new stock.</li><li>Responsible for managing rejected or non-conforming material areas in production and assure material is clearly labeled, dispositioned, reworked, scrapped or reused in a timely manner.</li><li>Supports other areas as needed such as quality and warehouse in putting away stock orders or moving customer orders to shipping areas. May include receiving in materials on containers or raw material from suppliers.</li><li>Ability to run the sweeper to clean up areas in production.</li><li>May perform part investigations when inventory is reported to be out of balance.</li><li>Actively and continually strives to reduce cost, waste, and time.</li><li>Conducts Cycle Counts or Inventory Investigations.</li><li>Performs all other duties as assigned.</li><li>Complies with the requirements of the company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System (when required).</li></ul>Supervisory Responsibilities<ul><li>This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.</li></ul>Physical Requirements<ul><li>Ability to stand, climb, bend and kneel on a regular basis.</li><li>Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.</li><li>Regular manual dexterity/coordination: hand/eye movements, motor control.</li><li>Regular visual effort: concentrated reading of documentation or close viewing of computer displays.</li><li>Able to push, pull and lift up to 50lbs. on a regular basis.</li><li>Able to push, pull and lift up to 75lbs. on an occasional basis.</li></ul>Potential Hazards<ul><li>Employee may be exposed to hazardous substances including a variety of petroleum- based products, cleaning solvents, etc. on a regular basis.</li><li>Employee may be exposed to sharp (cutting) tools on a regular basis.</li></ul>Required Education/Experience/Skills<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required.</li><li>At least 1 year of experience in production or knowledge of scheduling process required.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.</li><li>Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.</li></ul>Preferred Education/Experience/Skills<ul><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.</li><li>Ability to work independently and on a team.</li><li>Experience with Global Shop or similar ERP system.</li></ul>Certifications, Licensees or Registrations Required/Preferred<ul><li>This position does not require any special certifications, licenses, or registrations.</li></ul>
